Our Team - Orthodontists

Kent Farmer works at our Upper Mt Gravatt, Browns Plains, and Algester branches.

Kent FarmerKent was raised at Charters Towers in North Queensland. Kent studied dentistry at the University of Queensland and graduated with first class honours in 1985. He worked for the following 2 years at Mt Isa Base Hospital. Then Kent returned to the University of Queensland, completing his Masters in Orthodontics in 1990.

Kent has worked at Ethos since 1990. He does some part-time clinical supervision at his university, and has been President of the Queensland branch of the Australian Society of Orthodontists.

Kent is married with three children and loves his family life. He is also a passionate sports fan.


Marcus Tod works at our Upper Mt Gravatt, Clayfield and Toowong branches.

Marcus TodMarcus graduated with first class honours in 1985 from the University of Queensland and then worked in private general practice in both Melbourne and Brisbane for the next six years. Marcus completed his Master of Dental Science in Orthodontics in 1994 and joined Ethos in the same year.

Marcus is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and an active member of the Queensland Orthodontic Study Group. He has acted as External Examiner for postgraduate orthodontic students at the University of Queensland and has served on numerous orthodontic and dentistry committees.

Marcus is married to Christine and they have three growing boys. He plays tennis adequately, sails moderately badly and can't play golf!


Shari Prove works at our Redcliffe, North Lakes and Clayfield branches.

Shari ProveDr Shari Prove graduated with First Class Honors in Dental Science from the University of Queensland in 1990. She worked in a busy private general dental practice in Brisbane for a number of years before deciding to return to postgraduate study to specialise in orthodontics.

Following the completion of her masters degree, she commenced work as an orthodontist in 1996. She has worked at Ethos Orthodontics since this time, full time for the first four years, and later part time now that she has 3 small children. Her husband is also a Brisbane based dental specialist (Endodontics).

Shari has served on senior orthodontic committees, presented at orthodontic congresses, supervised orthodontic students and acted as a reviewer for the Australian Orthodontic Journal. Shari takes great pride in her gentle and caring patient management while achieving excellent treatment results.


Anna Chang works at our Upper Mt Gravatt, Loganholme and North Lakes branches.

Anna ChangDr Anna Chang migrated to Australia from Hong Kong in 1988. She is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin.

Anna obtained her Pharmacy degree in 1992. After working as a pharmacist for a year, she decided to pursue further study in dentistry. Anna graduated from the University of Queensland with first class honours and was awarded the university medal for academic excellence.

Anna worked as a general dentist for 2 years and went on to specialise in Orthodontics, completing her masters degree in 2002. She has been working with Ethos ever since.

Anna is a certified member of the Australian Orthodontic Board.


Steve Atkin works at our Redcliffe branch.

Steve AtkinDr Steve Atkin joined Ethos in 2002. Steve is a Redcliffe boy, who graduated as a dentist from the University of Queensland in 1984. He moved to Thursday Island, where he worked at the local hospital and set up the School Dental Service throughout the Torres Strait.

Steve qualified as an orthodontist in 1996, and has continued his work with children through the School Dental Service in Brisbane. His passion is helping patients with special needs, particularly cleft lip and palate. He participates in cleft palate clinics at the Royal Children's Hospital and the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital, and is a member of the Queensland Craniofacial Centre at the Mater Children's Hospital.

Steve is the Visiting Dental Specialist at the University of Queensland's School of Dentistry, where he gives lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate students.


Lam Cheng works at our Browns Plains branch.

Lam ChengLam was born in Hong Kong and raised in Brisbane. Lam can speak fluent Cantonese and some Mandarin. She obtained her dental degree with first class honors at the University of Queensland and has worked in both public and private practices for 4 years at the Gold Coast and also Logan area before she went to the University of Sydney to complete her specialist training in Orthodontics.

Since qualifying as an Orthodontist, Lam has been working in a private orthodontic practice in Sydney and is also the lecturer in the Department of Orthodontics at University of Sydney. She has now returned to Brisbane to work and to be closer to family.

Lam is a certified member of the Australian Orthodontic Board, a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and a member of the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons.
