What is Orthodontics?
At Ethos we have a simple, fresh approach to orthodontics.
Our ultimate goal is to give you the confidence to smile - the confidence to embrace life with a healthy, energetic vision for your future.
Orthodontics - The word orthodontics literally means "straight teeth". Orthodontics is the specialist area of dentistry that diagnoses,
prevents and treats problems in the alignment of teeth and jaws.
Orthodontist - Dentists study for five years at university. They are qualified to look after the general health of your mouth and teeth.
An Orthodontist is a dentist who has studied at university for an extra three years, to specialise in improving the placement of your teeth and jaws.
Orthodontic Treatment - You can have orthodontic treatment for:
- appearance - crooked teeth can be brought into line, improving your smile
- health of your teeth - straight teeth are easier to clean, and less likely to be damaged
- function of your teeth and jaws - you can avoid too much wear on your teeth, and damage to your gums or your jaw joints
Orthodontic treatment can also help with some speech or chewing problems.
Your orthodontist will design appliances such as braces or plates for you to wear. They will align your teeth and jaws properly, over a period of time.
