Conventional Braces

Braces are definitely the most efficient and accurate way of moving teeth.

At Ethos, we primarily use braces to achieve that winning smile! All our braces are bonded to the teeth - this avoids using cumbersome and unhygienic rings around the teeth.

Your braces are made up of brackets, wires and tiny "o" ring elastics. We attach a bracket to each tooth and use the wires to link the brackets together, with the "o" rings holding the wires to the brackets.

The braces put a small amount of pressure on each tooth, gently pushing them into place.

Your braces stay on throughout your treatment.

There are 3 main types of braces. You can even choose coloured "o" rings, if you like!

Metal

Metal or silver braces are the most common braces. The brackets and wires are silver but the coloured "o" rings can be used to brighten your smile.

The brackets we use are very small, so they don’t look as if they fill up your mouth!

Clear

You can also have clear braces. The brackets and bands are clear, with the wire a silver colour.

Clear braces are often only used on the upper teeth.

Invisible

"Invisible braces" are really clear plastic aligners. They are all in one piece for your whole row of teeth. They fit over your teeth so there are no brackets or wires.

At Ethos, we use the Invisalign brand. We feed into a computer images of your mouth as it is now and as we want it to look like at the end of your treatment. The computer creates a series of virtual models, from which the aligners are made. You can see the series of images before your treatment begins.
